History
The keen interest of Quebecers for Florida is not a recent phenomenon. Since the early ‘60s, many Quebecers were trading the cold weather for Florida’s sun for several months.
The presence of many tourists and “snowbirds” from Quebec in the Sunshine State brings important revenues for the international tourism and generates action in the field of real estate. With the recent collapse of financial markets and baby boomers starting to retire in massive numbers, real estate transactions made in Florida by Quebecers are growing at an impressive rate.
Moreover, Quebec and Canada figure among Florida’s most important trading partners. Quebec’s trades with Florida reach nearly one million dollars per hour.
Despite the incredible potential of partnerships and business relationships between Quebec and Florida, no organization had for mission to link those two territories. This is why a group of entrepreneurs from Quebec and Florida took on themselves to found the Quebec-Florida Chamber of Commerce (QFCC); a bilateral Chamber aiming to support business people and companies seeking to develop their market, either in Quebec or in Florida.
Officially launched on June 17th, 2009, the QFCC has grown steadily because of its vision and the support of many experienced professionals who believed in the importance of a relation between the two territories.
Among its achievements, the QFCC has organized, after only eight months of existence, a trade mission in Florida with a delegation of nine dynamic companies from Quebec seeking to explore and validate their market potential, and to meet with future clients.
In less than a year, the QFCC, with the invaluable support of its Board of Directors, has crossed the 150-member line in Canada and the United States.
And this is just the beginning!
